I felt the hotel was good value for money. However, I felt the full English breakfast didn't quite live up to scratch. I was given fried egg, 2 sausages, bacon and fried bread. I wasn't asked what kind of egg I wanted although I was happy with a fried egg. Normally when I have had a full English breakfast I have also had mushrooms, beans, black pudding and tomatoes.
I felt soap should have been left in the shower area - as it was I had to take the soap from the sink in the toilet. I also thought the floors squeaked terribly - I know it is an old building but these things can be fixed.

Loved the place, had a perfect 10/10 stay for one night. Central location of this traditional hotel was a bonus. And it's a 10-15 minute walk from Garden Restaurant, ate there once or twice.

Our twin room was clean and warm, perfect for a couple. The staff were helpful. Breakfast was made to order and very tasty, just what we needed to start the day. The location is great, with beautiful countryside walks nearby.

The position was particularly good, restaurants and bars are next to the hotel. It was next to a main street and a cathedral too.

The location is good and the staff friendliness is good but I would not recommend the hotel to anyone for the reasons below.
The room was very small, could not sit on the armchair provided as the tv was in the way, the sheets were poly-cotton, the towels smelt like kitchen towels, the breakfast although adequate was as cheap as possible, the eggs being tiny and the bread cheap thin sliced.

Our room ( 105) was to the front of the hotel and there was some noise due to buses passing.

A friendly, comfortable, family run hotel with a relaxed atmosphere, where my dog was welcome. No fussing staff. No need to dress-up for meals. Very central to shops and other amenities. Ideal for walking/photography breaks.

The food was absolutely the highlight! Delicious meals at the bar, especially the steak and ale pie 🍽️. the room felt a bit dated and could use some upgrades.

The welcome at reception was very quick and friendly, and it made us relaxed and happy after a long journey.Top marks to the lady receptionist. The Hotel was old and querky, just as we like it.
OK,there was a little worn carpet, the toilet roll holder had a screw missing and the sink plug chain was broken, but 'come on' the price was good and we had an excellent stay.

I felt the staff were vert friendly in the hotel, offering a homely welcoming style. The room, if a little small, was comfortable and very clean. The surroundings and the area were beautiful.
The full breakfast was a little small, therefore I decided upon having scrambled eggs on my second morning, it seemed more substantial. However, there was more than enough toast and a buffet so I certainly didn't go hungry.

We enjoyed a fantastic two nights with spacious family rooms and a cozy lounge area for relaxing. The hotel had a lovely sun terrace and a leisure room that were perfect for winding down after a busy day. The only thing we noticed was that the Wi-Fi was a bit spotty, but it didn't take away from our overall great experience! 😊
